National Trust Holiday Cancelled
14 June 2010, by Angel Annie
Just cancelled the National Trust Holiday we had booked for August. Details changed completely – so no longer the experience we were expecting, and had paid a premium for!
The original details stated:
Spend a week learning about hazel coppice and how it should be managed. You can learn how to harvest the material to make rustic stick furniture, besom brooms, hazel hurdles and ash gate hurdles. Some time will also be dedicated to making charcoal, camping under the stars and eating wild food cooked on an open fire. Goodies galore, things to take home and a chance to sample old style green living.
The new details sent through were:
You can learn all about hazel coppice and how to manage it over this week. Join us to harvest the materials whilst helping to improve the woodland for wildlife. You’ll have a day’s tuition with our local hurdle maker who will teach you this traditional craft. This is an opportunity to step away from modern life and sample an older and greener style of living in an important conservation area with ancient woodland, farmland, heathland and different ponds.
