Greek Holiday

Dan & I had our first proper holiday together, and headed off to Zante for a week, staying in Kalamaki. We had a lovely holiday, eating out every night and generally enjoying quiet days by the pool in the hotel. We did visit Zante Town, St Nicholas Beach in Vasilikos and the Waterpark as well as attending a traditional greek night in Kampi, so we weren’t bored.

While at the beach Dan & I tried a first for both of us – a ride on the Ringo, where we sat in a rubber ring each and were pulled behind a boat. Certainly different, though not something I think we’d repeat again – we both ached the next day.

The food was fantastic, we always tried to find traditional greek dishes, and tried something new every night. I think we tried most of the staple dishes between us, and a few local Zante specialties as well. It was very handy being able to share meals, as we could try twice as many dishes :o )

The weather wasn’t fantastic unfortunately, we had some wet weather, and it turned almost cold at times by the end of the week. We had a good number of hot days though, so it wasn’t really a big problem. The only real down point of the entire holiday was the travelling, we had night flights and I don’t think we’ll ever do that again. We lost nearly 24hrs each way and it took a lot out of us, especially with the cramped seats on the plane. We’ll try a bit of luxury next time I think.
