Bingley & Fifi Adopted

Bingley & Fifi really settled in over the last few weeks, and it was very difficult to see them go. Fifi had remained rather shy, but loved fuss and attention, rolling on her back for her tummy to be rubbed. Bingley had turned into an attention monster once he settled in, climbing all over me if I tried to ignore him. He was very sweet with it though, and loved playing games with Dan too. I’m sure they’ll love having their own home now and will make their new owners very happy.

I’ve now got my 3rd foster care – another pair of kittens! This brother & sister pair have been kept in a pen in a fosterer’s garden since they were trapped (having been born in the wild). While some of their siblings have remained feral these guys seem OK. Having never been in a home environment though, they’re getting a taster with me before being adopted. Hopefully they’ll be OK, though I’m not sure I’ll find out tonight – they haven’t come out from behind the sofa yet!

Ollie Adopted!

After staying with me only 5 days Ollie has now been adopted. My first handover as well (as Shadow & Charmer went while I was on holiday). It all went smoothly though and looks like he’ll be very happy with his new family. I’m wondering who I’ll get next now.

I picked up my second foster cat from the vet. Another young cat, about 5months old, found as a stray. He has lovely ginger and white colouring, and is very friendly. He also likes to play a bit rough though and has no discipline at all – so going to be interesting getting used to each other.

Charmer & Shadow Adopted

I’ve had these lovely boys for 2 months, with no-one interested in them at all. I dropped them off for boarding while I was on holiday, and they were adopted within 2 days! I always thought the first person to visit them would want them, and that was the way it happened. I hope they’re happy with their new owner, although I will miss them.

My first foster care are 2 semi-longhair black kittens, just 11 weeks old (about 2.5 months). They’re lovely little things, into everything and full of fun. I’m sure I won’t have them very long, as kittens are usually adopted very quickly. I’m going to love every day I do have them though.

Cat Fostering

I’ve signed up with the Southampton branch of the Cats Protection League (CPL) today as a cat fosterer. They don’t keep cats in a cattery when they’re waiting to be homed, but with a network of fosterers who look after them either in a kennel outside, in a single room in the house or in the whole house as if the cat were their own. In my case I’ll be doing whole house fostering, and it gives me a great chance to have a cat around while helping the charity at the same time. The charity provides all the equipment and supplies needed to care for their cats and pays for any vet treatment too. All I have to do is care for the cat(s) and, obviously, give them up once they’re adopted. I’m looking forward to getting my first care once I’m back from holiday.
