Penelope Passed

Penelope, my little purple fiesta, has now reached 3 years old and needed her first MOT. Thankfully there were only a few minor issues and she passed.

Bletchley Park Visit

I organised a coach trip to Bletchley Park through the Entertainments Committee at work, which I then went on today. It was a good day out, and well worth a visit if you haven’t been before. I have put a full writeup of the day on the Hursley Club website along with a few pictures.

Newcastle Trip

Mum had to have a hernia operation on 6th March, and needed someone to come and stay with her to begin with so she could get out of the hospital. I flew up North on the sat morning and picked her up from the hospital in the afternoon. I could only stay a few days due to work so I flew back again on the Wed evening. By now though Mum is moving around a little easier though it’s likely to be a good few weeks before she’s back to normal completely. Anita arrived yesterday to keep Mum company for a few more days though.

First Dinner Party

I had my first dinner party in the new house tonight, with Sam, Jan and Carla joining me for a lovely roast chicken. It all went very well and I’m really liking having space to entertain again!

Connecting Women Event

I headed off to a Networking event with a difference this afternoon. IBM has combined with a number of other large technology companies (inc Google, Dell, Microsoft, Cisco, Nortel) to increase networking, this is being driven by the Connecting Women group. It was an interesting afternoon, although I did find it was aimed at more executive women than the technical people. This event was held at Microsoft and I’m looking forward to the next one which will be at Dell I believe.

Return Keys for Collett Close

While my contract didn’t officially end until April 9th, I had finished the cleaning and Craig was happy, so I dropped the keys back to him. Just need to sort out the final paperwork and deposit now and it’ll close that chapter of my life. It was interesting living on my own, and I’m glad I’ve done it, but looking forward to having more space again now, and to living with Dan.

Sofas Delivered

Our new sofas came this morning. I was a bit worried the big one wouldn’t fit through the door but the delivery men got it in in the end, and the set looks great now. We’ve got a big 3 seat sofa, a 2 seat sofa bed and a storage stool. Now I just need to find the time to wear them in properly with hours of watching TV.

Dad & Lin Visit

As I’d missed Dad’s birthday with moving, he came to visit bringing Lin and Nanna with him. Dan & I offered to cook lunch, so another pressure to make sure we were sorted in time. We managed it in the end, though it took a lot of Saturday evening to get the table cleared and the rest of the rooms sorted to a reasonable standard. Dan cooked, and everyone had a lovely meal. It was nice being able to show off the new place so well, even though we obviously still had a lot of sorting to do.

Dad also gave me a hand picking up my exercise bike where it’s been stored in Helen’s garage since we parted ways last year. Now I just need to clear enough space to levae it out and actually use it regularly too!
