It’s all becoming very real now. Dan & I had spotted a sofa we liked online at DFS, and on trying it out in store decided it was what we wanted. However, it was the last day of current stock, and there were no guarantees we’d like the new stock as much so we took the risk and got what we wanted ordered. It’ll take around 4 weeks to arrive so we’ll be in the new place by then. I just hope it fits now!

We got the good news that the landlady would allow cats, so we’ve taken the house in Chandlers Ford. It’s all moving quickly now and we’re aiming to be all moved in by the end of Feb. Loads to be done in the meantime though – at least having last moved just 10months ago I’ve a good idea what needs doing!

We’ve been viewing a few houses, but think we’ve found the right one for us now. It’s in Chandlers Ford and a nice 3 bedroom, split level, house. With the split levels it’s a bit quirky which we like, and should have plenty of room for us as well, especially with the garage in a block down the road. It is street parking but I’m sure we’ll get used to that quickly. Just waiting to get permission from the landlady to have cats now before we make a firm decision to take it.

Dan & I have been talking about living together for a while now, and we’ve decided to do it this year. Dan will rent his flat out, and we’ll rent a nice house together for a year or two. This will give us a chance to try living together and hopefully save some money to buy a place in a few years as well.

I thought I was going to be fostering Holly & Ivy when I got back, but they’d already been adopted (not surprising really as they looked adorable little kittens). Instead I’ve taken on Jessie & Timmy, another pair of kittens. This pair have had a bad start in life, Timmy (3.5 months) was born feral and is still very scared of people. Jessie (6 months) was treated very badly in her first home and is only gradually trusting men again. It’s certainly going to be a challenge getting this pair ready to be adopted!

I flew up to Newcastle to see Mum this time, as both Dan & myself suffer with long drives and didn’t want to spend days recovering. It was good to spend a few quiet days up north, seeing Mum and catching up with Sugar & Spice again. The main problem was fitting everything in the suitcase to come home again!

Looking back over the past year is always an interesting exercise.
I’ve moved house, living on my own for the first time. I’ve also cut down the amount of stuff I’ve been lugging around with me for years, and made a bit of money in the process. I’ve also started fostering cats, helping the Cat Protection League look after cats in the area, and giving me feline company again. Having kittens around has been a real treat – if a lot of work!
