Something Sweet

I organised a charity event at work, arranging for a number of people to bring in homemade cakes and sweets on Wed 19th. The idea was to donate money to charity in return for sampling the cakes and voting for your favourite. The winner (who baked the ‘best’ entry) got to choose which charity the funds went to. The day went very well, with over £100 raised and about 16 different sweet entries.

Goodbye Uncle Kerrie

Unfortunately Uncle Kerrie, my Dad’s older brother, was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor and died early in December. His funeral in Cheltenham on the 11th was very well attended though, and it was good to give him a proper send off.

MadHouse BYO Dinner – Sat December 8th

Well, it’s going to be interesting to organise a BYO buffet dinner – so thought I’d use this to do it. I’ll keep a list below of what ppl have said they’ll bring with them, so we can avoid too much / too little of anything. You can send me an email, or add a comment to this post & I’ll update this main post as we go along – so it’s easy to see what you’ve committed to.

London Trip

I managed to get permission to attend a BCS course on management in London, and took the following day as holiday to spend a bit more time in London. After the course I met up with Gilli & Leah for dinner and a few drinks with Cam as well and stayed over at Gilli’s flat. The following day I had lunch with Gilli and explored the National History Museum before going to the BCSWomen Christmas Party.

Speed Networking

I organised a couple of Speed Networking events at the clubhouse in Hursley. I am on the committee for the BCSWomen, and I worked with the BCS Hampshire Branch for funding. The first one was on Fri 9th November and went really well. There were about 12ppl and everyone had a good evening and made a few useful contacts. The second one, on Mon 3rd Dec, didn’t go quite so well due to a large number of ppl dropping out at the last minute. However, it was still a good evening and I expect we’ll run another one sometime next year.
